4. Sam Hartman, QB, Notre Dame
What was perceived by many as the , Hartman has mostly lived up to the hype during his time in South Bend. The Wake Forest transfer has led the Fighting Irish to a 5-2 record with the only losses coming to ranked Ohio State and Louisville.
Over the course of seven games at Notre Dame, Hartman has thrown for 1,712 yards, 16 pass touchdowns and three interceptions with two more rushing scores. He ranks No. 13 in passing yards, tied for sixth in points responsible for and tied for third in passing touchdowns. While the Irish have dropped a couple of games early in the year, Hartman has more than proven he belongs among the country’s best signal callers.
