Ranking college football’s top 10 running backs so far in 2023
6. Braelon Allen, Wisconsin
With Wisconsin on a bye in Week 5, Allen hasn’t quite put up the same gaudy numbers as some on this list, but he has undoubtedly remained one of the best rushers in the country this season. Through four games, Allen has amassed 352 rushing yards on 52 carries while averaging 7.1 yards per rush. He has had three games in which he has run for 94 yards or more, and also scored two touchdowns in each of those contests. Featuring his usual blend of power and speed, the 6-foot-2 junior back has also become more of a pass catcher in the Badgers’ air-raid offense this season with 16 receptions. With his backfield mate Chez Mellusi out for the season after suffering a fractured fibula against Purdue, Allen will take on an even larger role in the Wisconsin backfield down the stretch as the Badgers look to win the Big Ten West.
