College football鈥檚 top 5 matchups of Week 2
4. No. 20 Ole Miss vs. No. 24 Tulane – Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN 2
This week鈥檚 matchup between Ole Miss and Tulane doesn鈥檛 necessarily jump off the page when looking at the schedule, but it鈥檚 a historic rivalry that dates all the way back to 1893, and is actually the oldest rivalry in Ole Miss program history. This is also one of the few games in the history of the rivalry, as well as one of just two contests on the Week 2 slate, that features a pair of ranked teams. For Tulane, that would seem to be good news. Although the teams have played just four times in the 21st Century, Ole Miss has dominated each of them, and has a 12-game series winning streak dating back to 1989.
This year, the No. 20-ranked Rebels come in looking strong again after a 334-yard, four-touchdown performance by Jaxson Dart in a 73-7 blowout of Mercer. Meanwhile, the No. 24-ranked Green Wave also won big in their season opener against South Alabama led by a stellar quarterback performance as well from junior Michael Pratt who threw for 294 yards and four scores. There should be plenty of offensive fireworks for both squads again on Saturday as the Green Wave look for a statement win in New Orleans.
