4. Eric Dickerson/Craig James, SMU
鈥淭he Pony Express鈥� is unsurprisingly near the top of the list, a duo that took the Southwest Conference by storm. Both players came in as freshmen in 1979, but Dickerson was actually third on the team in carries that season. The following year, however, Dickerson emerged as the team鈥檚 lead back. Their best season came in 1982 with Dickerson finishing with 1,617 yards and James rushing for 938.
