4. Luke Fickell, Wisconsin
Fickell is entering his first year at Wisconsin in 2023, but his past experience and familiarity with the Big Ten make him one of the top coaches in the conference already. A former player at Ohio State, Fickell returned to Columbus to spend a decade-and-a-half coaching with the Buckeyes in various roles, including interim head coach in 2011. Leading a fierce defense under Urban Meyer the next five years, Fickell earned his chance as a head coach at Cincinnati.听
There, he went 57-18 across six seasons with the Bearcats, leading them to the College Football Playoff in 2021. Expectations are high that he can do the same with the Badgers, and Fickell has a chance to make it a sixth straight season of nine wins or more as a head coach with what will be a new-look Wisconsin team this fall.
