7. Eric Handley, Sr., Pleasant Grove
A fellow signal caller in Class 5A, Handley had a stronger season statistically than his adversary Keenan as he finished the year with 2,921 passing yards and 40 passing touchdowns. This performance earned Handley second-team all-state honors as he led his Spartans to the state semifinals, where they fell to Ramsay.
Given his strong performance, Handley鈥檚 recruiting interest has picked up this year as he is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports, good for the No. 56 spot in Alabama for the Class of 2024. After receiving offers from Kentucky and UAB as only a freshman, The 6-foot-2, 180-pound quarterback has added offers from Columbia, New Mexico, Troy and more this year. Following an all-state performance last season, Handley will look to once again finish among the top QBs in the state while also helping his team get even further as a senior.
