7. Craig Ochs, QB, Fairview – 0.9739
Ochs went head to head with Andrew Walter to claim the title of the best quarterback in Colorado鈥檚 2000 class, and he narrowly edged out the Grand Junction product as the seventh-best signal-caller in the class and a top-75 player overall. His special career at Fairview led him to a college career that began at Colorado.
The 6-foot-2 quarterback saw action in three seasons with the Buffaloes, but would eventually leave the program after suffering three concussions within a 13-month span. However, Ochs battled back through adversity, transferring to Montana where he went 17-6 as a starter, and led the Grizzlies to the NCAA Division I-AA national championship game as a senior in 2004. That year, he threw for 3,807 yards and 33 touchdowns, setting a single-season program record with a 68.7% completion rate. Ochs became a graduate assistant with the Grizzlies following brief stints in the NFL with the Chargers and Bills, as well as in NFL Europe with the Frankfort Galaxy.
