Top 10 all-time leading passers in Utah HS football
2. Bryson Barnes, Milford (2016-19)
Barnes was not a heavily-recruited player coming out of Milford High School in 2019, yet he still had one of the best careers under center that the state of Utah has ever seen. A three-time first-team all-state player, Barnes threw for over 3,000 yards as both a junior and a senior, part of 11,525 career passing yards he racked up for the Tigers. Barnes also still stands at the top when it comes to career passing touchdowns in Utah with 137.
A state champion and first-team all-state baseball player at Milford as well, Barnes decided to pursue football in college, walking on at Utah. After not seeing any action in 2020, Barnes was introduced to the college football world in crunch time of the 2022 Rose Bowl game where he threw a touchdown to tie the contest late in a thriller against Ohio State. Ironically, Barnes was tasked with replacing an injured Cameron Rising again in this past Rose Bowl against Penn State, throwing for 112 yards and a touchdown. The Utes junior is slated to play behind Rising once again in 2023, but could see action early on as the starter recovers from an ACL tear.
