Top 10 all-time leading passers in Virginia HS football
2. Phillip Sims, Oscar Smith (2006-10)
Another Virginia high school football legend, Sims had one of the best careers in Commonwealth history. During his four seasons as a starter for the Tigers, Sims became the first 10,000-yard passer in VHSL history with 10,725 yards and a state-record 119 passing touchdowns. Sims was considered one of the top prospects in the Class of 2010 and committed to the University of Alabama.
The signal-caller spent two seasons at Alabama where he redshirted as a true freshman before losing the starting job to AJ McCarron in 2011. After two years with the Crimson Tide, Sims transferred to Virginia where he spent 2012 before transferring again to Winston-Salem. Following his college career, Sims would spend time in both the NFL and CFL. He is now the head football coach for Princess Anne High School in Virginia.
