5 most dominant pitcher outings in NCAA Tournament history
5. Quinn Mathews, Stanford vs. Texas (2023)
Mathews stepped onto the mound in a must-win game for the Cardinal and delivered an all-time great performance. The Stanford ace showed why he was one of the best pitchers in college baseball this year by pitching a complete game with 16 strikeouts. Mathews also showed off his endurance by throwing 156 pitches and refused to leave the mound in such an important game. Mathews gave up just three runs as his teammates gave him support on the offensive side to give Stanford an 8-3 win over Texas. Mathews was drafted last year by the Tampa Bay Rays but opted to return for his senior season. It looks like it was the right move for him and Stanford.聽
