From 1994-97, Leaf suited up for the Cougars and set a then Pac-10 and WSU passing TD record (34). His collegiate career was highlighted by his senior season when he finished third in Heisman Trophy voting and led Washington State to its first Rose Bowl berth in 67 years, where it fell to No. 1 ranked Michigan.
