10 greatest NBA players to play junior college basketballÂ
6. Dennis Rodman, Cooke County College
A growth spurt after high school helped encourage Rodman to try basketball again and the big man decided to enroll at Cooke County College (now North Central Texas College) where he averaged 17.6 points and 13.3 rebounds in his lone semester. After dropping out of Cooke, Rodman was recruited by Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Rodman spent three seasons at Northeastern Oklahoma State before being selected by the Pistons No. 27 overall in the second round of the 1986 NBA Draft. As a scrappy defender and rebounder, Rodman rose his game to become a five-time NBA champion, a two-time All-Star, a two-time All-NBA selection, a two-time defensive player of the year, a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary team and a member of the Hall of Fame.
