Connor Vanover, 7-foot-5 center, enters portal; 5 landing spots
3. Washington
When Vanover came out of high school, he joined the Cal Golden Bears program under head coach Wyking Jones. While Jones’ tenure at the university wasn’t successful, he was still able to build enough of a relationship with Vanover to get him to join his program.
Today, Jones is an assistant coach for the Huskies and this previous relationship could pay dividends in the team getting a commitment from Vanover. Washington did not have a strong season last year, finishing .500 with a 16-16 record, but they have added some good pieces in the portal with guard Sahvir Wheeler from Kentucky and forward Moses Wood from Portland. Adding Vanover could take this team from NIT hopeful to potential NCAA Tournament at-large threat.
