Diamond Johnson enters transfer portal; Top 5 landing spots

RALEIGH, N.C. (BVM) – Diamond Johnson is entering the transfer portal after two seasons with the NC State Wolfpack. Johnson originally came to Raleigh, North Carolina after transferring from Rutgers following her freshman season and still has two years of eligibility left.

Johnson led the Wolfpack in scoring (12.3) and assists (3.5) while earning All-ACC second team honors. NC State went 20-12 but lost in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Tournament to Princeton. Unfortunately by then, Johnson was out with an ankle injury that she suffered during NC State’s win over North Carolina on Feb. 16.

Had Johnson been playing, the Wolfpack might have been able to make a deeper run into both the ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.

In her first year in Raleigh, the 5-foot-5 guard came off the bench and averaged 10.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals. She was named ACC Sixth Player of the Year on an NC State team that won the ACC Tournament and made it to the Elite Eight in 2022.

Johnson is a talented point guard who can shoot from three and plays strong defense. She was ranked No. 6 in the , which also featured Paige Bueckers, Angel Reese, Cameron Brink, Hailey Van Lith and Caitlin Clark. Johnson was also a while playing for Neumann Goretti.

Here are five landing spots for Johnson.
