Brandon Newman enters transfer portal; 5 possible landing spots

Ohio State was one of the schools that was strongly considered by Newman coming out of Valparaiso High School, and it’s possible he stays within the Big Ten with the Buckeyes. Ohio State did just bring in another Big Ten transfer in Jamison Battle, and there is a very strong recruiting class coming into Columbus, Ohio, featuring Taison Chatman, Scotty Middleton and Devin Royal. While it may be a crowded rotation, Newman could help fill some of the void that will be left behind from the departure of Brice Sensabaugh, and would be a nice two-way player to pair in the backcourt alongside Bruce Thornton. It is clear Chris Holtmann has liked Newman’s game for quite some time, and this could be a nice match for a team that should be much better in 2023-24.
