Ranking the 2023 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame finalists
8. Gene Keady
The lone finalist who is not in their first year of eligibility, Keady was named a finalist in both 2004 and 2006. As a coach for 27 years, his resume is remarkable with 550 career NCAA wins and six National Coach of the Year awards.
Keady is the winningest coach in Purdue鈥檚 history with 512 wins, won a record seven Big Ten Coach of the Year awards and led the Boilermakers to 17 NCAA tournament appearances and six Big Ten titles in 24 years.
The biggest question for Keady is if his accolades are enough. He never won a national title and his win totals aren鈥檛 as high as others on this list, but his individual awards should count for something. It will be interesting to see if Keady finally makes it this time around.
