Top 10 Texas high school baseball players in Class of 2023
2. Travis Sykora, RHP, Round Rock
Sykora is the state鈥檚 best pitcher and his 100-mph fastball is just the tip of the iceberg. Seen as the 鈥渉ardest thrower in the class鈥 by , that theory is corroborated by of Sykora as the No. 27 prospect in the 2023 MLB Draft. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound righthander has a short slider and splitter that both sit around the mid-80s to go with a fastball which routinely reaches triple digits. Arguably the most dominant pitcher at both the PDP League and the Area Code Games, Sykora has the chance to do something that hasn鈥檛 been done in a half decade. He could be the first Texas high school pitcher taken in the first round of the MLB draft since 2018, but if not, he鈥檒l continue his baseball career in Austin with the Longhorns.
Travis Sykora ('23, TX) has overwhelmed hitters w/ the heater. Topped out at 100 mph. Offering sat in the upper-90鈥檚 throughout. Paired it w/ a tight SL at 85-87 mph. commit
