Top 10 Texas high school baseball players in Class of 2023
1. Blake Mitchell, C, Sinton
Mitchell is the best high school baseball player in the state of Texas and one of the nation’s top catchers. He led Sinton to the Class 5A state title as a junior while batting .465 with seven home runs and 52 RBIs which led to Gatorade state player of the year honors. While most scouts prefer him behind the plate because of his offensive prowess, Mitchell’s 97-mph fastball (second only to Sykora in Texas’ 2023 class) makes him an intriguing two-way player. The 6-foot-1, 192-pound LSU commit is the No. 13th-ranked prospect in the MLB Draft and could easily go in the top 15 come July.
C Blake Mitchell (Sinton, TX) homered twice yesterday in a scrimmage vs. Flour Bluff HS. Scouts I've spoken with over the last couple weeks have raved over reports on him.
