Every Heisman Trophy winner to win a Super Bowl championship
John Huarte, Kansas City Chiefs, Super Bowl IV
The other member of the Chiefs‘ first Super Bowl championship roster was backup quarterback Huarte. The quarterback starred as a senior at Notre Dame where he recorded 2,062 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns and three rushing scores during the campaign.
While Huarte was drafted in the second round of the 1965 AFL Draft by the New York Jets, he spent his career mostly as a backup playing in only 24 games with one start. Huarte did not play in Super Bowl IV but was on the roster, earning himself a Super Bowl ring.
Happy Birthday to 1964 Heisman winner John Huarte! The Southern California native became the 6th player to win the trophy after leading the Irish to a 9-1 season, throwing for 2,062 yards and 16 TDs, ranking third nationally in total offense.
