One of the earliest games on this list, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane whooped the Bowling Green Falcons 63-7 in what was the largest margin of victory in a bowl game in NCAA history at the time. Riding a top-ranked offense, Tulsa dominated the Bowling Green defense with 562 total yards, including 312 yards and five passing touchdowns by quarterback Paul Smith.
During the contest, the Golden Hurricane also became the first team in NCAA history to have a 5,000-yard passer, a 1,000-yard rusher and three 1,000-yard receivers. While Tulsa was known for their offense, their defense had a great game themselves, forcing and recovering four Bowling Green fumbles while only surrendering 229 total yards.
