Could top-ranked OT Kadyn Proctor flip from Iowa to Alabama?
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa (BVM) 鈥 Just days before the early signing period, five-star Class of 2023 offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor has entered the spotlight with his original college commitment now seemingly up in the air. After the Iowa native committed to the in-state Iowa Hawkeyes鈥 program back in June, things have started to trend in a different direction.聽
Proctor has kept his options open throughout his recruiting process and a weekend visit down south may have been just what the No. 1-rated lineman needed to change his mind.

With a trip down to Alabama on Dec. 16, speculation of a potential move came following a social media post from current Crimson Tide freshman lineman Tyler Booker, who shared that Proctor was in town. The Southeast Polk senior has scheduled visits to different programs as of late, with a recent trip to Oregon occurring last month. Just before making it down to Tuscaloosa on Friday, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and offensive line coach Adrian Klemm also traveled to Iowa .
A late-switch could certainly be in the cards for Proctor who is trending in a different direction than his original Hawkeyes鈥 commitment. The visit to Alabama marked his second trip to the program after getting a look around campus back in June.聽

The 6-foot-7, 330-pound offensive lineman remains the biggest chip in Iowa鈥檚 current recruiting cycle and would be a major addition for Kirk Ferentz鈥檚 staff. After landing both Cade McNamara and Erick All from Michigan in the transfer portal, the Hawkeyes were hoping to keep the ball rolling with a top-ranked 2023 group. The commitment earlier on from Proctor had Iowa鈥檚 upcoming class ranked 23rd overall . A late flip would certainly cause a major dip in the rankings for the Hawkeyes who have been unable to land someone near Proctor鈥檚 current ranking, so far.聽
On the other end, the addition of Proctor would only add to Alabama鈥檚 No. 1-ranked class. With commitments already from top-ranked safety Caleb Downs and top-ranked edge rusher Keon Keeley, Proctor would come in as the Crimson Tide鈥檚 highest-rated commitment on the offensive side.
Both Alabama and Iowa will be anxiously awaiting his final decision, as the early signing period for football kicks off on Dec. 21. With three programs in the mix, the upcoming week should make for an interesting choice.
