Top 10 individual college bowl game performances of all time
10. Byron Leftwich, QB, Marshall (2001 GMAC Bowl)
The first quarter did not look pretty for Leftwich as he threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, and lost a snap that was also returned for a score to go down to East Carolina 21-0. By halftime, Marshall was down 38-8.
However, Leftwich wouldn鈥檛 give in. Marshall roared back with a 28-point third quarter and 15 points in the fourth to tie the game 51-51, marking the largest comeback in bowl history and the highest-scoring bowl game of all time at the time.
The two teams exchanged rushing touchdowns in the first overtime but following an ECU field goal, Leftwich threw an 8-yard game-winner to Josh Davis. Garrard finished the game going 41-of-70 for a bowl-record 576 passing yards with four touchdown passes, two interceptions and a rushing touchdown.
Down 38-8 at halftime.
