Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry among Seattle鈥檚 top 10 NBA players
3. Doug Christie, G, Mark Morris, Rainier Beach
It鈥檚 been a while since the Sacramento Kings have been relevant, but last time they were, it was in part due to Doug Christie who is now back in Sacramento as an assistant coach. The Kings are just one of seven teams who Christie starred for during his NBA career, however. His start in basketball came at Mark Morris High School where he played his freshman and sophomore seasons. Christie transferred to Rainier Beach for his final two prep seasons, leading the Vikings to a state championship in 1988. Christie would go on to play three seasons of college basketball at Pepperdine where he scored over 19 points per game in both 1990-91 and 1991-92, earning West Coast Conference Men鈥檚 Basketball Player of the Year honors both seasons. The 6-foot-6 guard was selected by the Seattle Supersonics in 1992, but was soon traded to the Los Angeles Lakers where he spent the first two seasons of his NBA career. Christie spent a year-and-a-half in New York before finding a more permanent home in Toronto where he began to flourish, particularly in the 1997-98 season when he averaged a career-best 16.5 points per game. The back nine of Christie鈥檚 NBA career began in Sacramento where he became a key member of several successful Kings teams. Christie made brief stops in Orlando, Dallas and back in L.A. with the Clippers to end his NBA career, finishing a 15-year NBA career with per-game averages of 11.2 points and 4.1 rebounds.
