8. Aaron Brooks, G, Franklin
At just 6-foot, 180 pounds, Brooks was one of the smaller players the NBA has seen, but certainly still had a fine pro career. One of a couple of Franklin High School products on this list, Brooks averaged over 24 points per game as a senior and led the Quakers to a state championship as he scored 38 points in a title-game battle with former Gonzaga star Adam Morrison. A four-star recruit and McDonald鈥檚 All-American, Brooks stayed in the Northwest to play for the Oregon Ducks where he averaged 13.1 points and four assists across his four years in Eugene. Brooks was taken 26th overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2007 NBA Draft, and put up some strong seasons with the Rockets, in particular a 2009-10 campaign where he started all 82 games, averaging a career-best 19.6 points and 5.3 assists as the NBA鈥檚 Most Improved Player. In 2011, Brooks was traded to Phoenix where he played briefly, and then went to play in China during the NBA lockout later that year. The 6-foot guard returned to the states to play for the Kings, back with the Rockets and later the Denver Nuggets. He finished his career with a couple of strong seasons off the bench for the Chicago Bulls, and spent a season each with the Pacers and Timberwolves before concluding his playing career overseas. Now, Brooks is an assistant coach within the New York Knicks organization.
