5. Mark Mullaney, DE, George Washington
Mullaney is a local product through and through as he attended George Washington High School in Denver, and then headed to Fort Collins to play at Colorado State. Following a strong career with the Rams where he played on both the offensive and defensive lines, Mullaney became the 25th pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 1975 NFL Draft.聽
In just his second season as a pro, the defensive end got to play in Super Bowl IX as the Vikings lost in a close battle to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mullaney racked up a total of 597 tackles, 45.5 sacks and 13 forced fumbles while also grabbing one interception across his 12-year NFL career with the Vikings. Interestingly enough, the Denver native is also believed to be the first NFL player to wear a shield visor on his helmet following an eye injury in 1984, something that is commonplace in today鈥檚 league.
