Bishop is another one of several Cathedral products on this list and was a talented NFL player for the better part of a decade. Following his high school career with the Fighting Irish, Bishop stayed in state to attend St. Joseph’s and eventually transferred to Ball State. Lettering three times while with Cardinals, Bishop racked up 243 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 13 pass breakups, 12 sacks, one interception and one blocked kick in his college career. He was inducted into Ball State’s Hall of Fame in 2003 following a brilliant NFL career that began in Houston after he was selected No. 214 overall by the Oilers in 1993. It didn’t take long for Bishop to make his mark in the NFL as he compiled 112 tackles in his second season in 1994, and made three straight Pro Bowls from 1995 to 1997 as the Oilers moved to Tennessee. Bishop enjoyed several more successful seasons in Tennessee that included one more Pro Bowl appearance in 2000. He finished his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2002 with a total of 738 tackles.
