Top 10 NFL players from Milwaukee
4. Michael Bennett, RB, Bradley Tech
Known for his speed both on the football field and on the track, Bennett was a track and football star at Bradley Tech. He won state titles and set records in track in high school and broke records in college. As a running back, he rushed for more than 4,200 yards and earned a scholarship to play at Wisconsin. Bennett played his first two seasons behind the Badgers star running back, Ron Dayne, but when he got his chance as a junior, he didn’t waste it. Bennett rushed for 1,592 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Minnesota Vikings drafted him in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft and the following year he made his only Pro Bowl during a season in which he racked up 1,296 rushing yards to go along with 351 receiving yards and six total touchdowns. Minnesota moved on from Bennett after the 2005 season and he spent the rest of his career bouncing around the league until retiring in 2011 with 3,703 career yards.
Viking Visual Past: 2004, and those who say RB Michael Bennett was a bust, may not recall the shear speed he had. Here he is burning the Packers.
