8. Eugene Lockhart, David Crockett
Lockett enjoyed a standout career at the University of Houston starring for the program as a junior and senior. In his final collegiate season, Lockhart led the Cougars in tackles with 134, and was named second-team All-Southwest Conference during a down year for the program. After his selection by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 1984 NFL Draft, Lockhart would become the first player in franchise history to start at middle linebacker as a rookie. His play would impress throughout his nine-year NFL career, starting 117 games and picking up All-Pro second-team honors in the 1989 season. Lockhart led the Cowboys in tackles for the majority of his time with the team, and racked up more than 100 tackles in every season except 1987. He finished his final two seasons with the New England Patriots.
