NIU Football to Host South Florida in 2027 Season Opener
Football | August 17 DeKALB, Ill. 鈥� The Northern Illinois University football team will welcome South Florida to Huskie Stadium on Aug. 28 to kick off the 2027 season. Next year's matchup against the Bulls will be the fifth time the schools have played one another and first time since the 2016 season. The Huskies have hosted South Florida once previously in the series, a 20-17 win on Aug. 30, 2001. All-time the Huskies are 1-3 against South Florida, including playing in the International Bowl on Jan. 2, 2010. The contest has previously been scheduled for Sept. 25, 2027.
