Ben Smith Returns to BC as Assistant
August 13, 2026 CHN Staff Report Ben Smith, who starred at Boston College from 2006-10 and went on to play over 200 NHL games, is returning to his alma mater as an assistant coach. He replaces another former Eagle, Brendan Buckley, who stepped down recently for personal reasons. Smith spent the past year as player development coordinator for the NHL's Boston Bruins. Smith spent the seven seasons prior to that playing in the German league in Europe. Smith won national championships with the Eagles in 2008 and 2010, then played nine seasons in North America between the NHL and AHL....
