Monta Ellis hired as Alcorn State basketball GM after NBA career, Lanier state titles
Alcorn State basketball hired former Lanier star and longtime NBA guard Monta Ellis as its general manager, the program announced Aug. 7. A news release from Alcorn State says Ellis' responsibilities will include "assisting with roster construction, player evaluation, recruiting strategy, transfer portal decisions, NIL opportunities, alumni and donor relationships, as well as the overall development of student-athletes. He will also serve as a mentor and resource for players as they prepare for success both on and off the court." Ellis was a Mississippi State commit in high school but opted for the NBA draft instead of playing college basketball....
