By: Len Skoros Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics is saddened to announce the passing of former Pride baseball student-athlete and assistant softball coach Scott Coppola. Coppola passed away unexpectedly on August 3 at the age of 49. Coppola was a four-year letterwinner and two-year captain for the Pride from 1996 through 1999. A third baseman and pitcher, he played in 129 career games with 37 appearances as a pitcher. Coppola won 11 games and collected 130 strikeouts.
