IRVINE, Calif. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving rising sophomore William Mulgrew became a national champion late Tuesday night after winning the 1500-meter freestyle at the Toyota National Championships. The Walpole, Massachusetts native posted a personal-best 14:58.50, which was also the fastest time by an American swimmer in 2026. A 2026 CSCAA Second-Team All-American after finishing in ninth place in the 1650 free at the NCAA Championships in March, Mulgrew finished with a sub-15-minute time in the 1500 for the first time of his career.
