Rays' Craig Kimbrel allows 1-out, 9th-inning homer to spoil combined no-hitter against Royals
The Tampa Bay Rays came within two outs of recording a combined no-hitter against the Kansas City Royals. They would have to settle for a one-hit, 13-2 win instead. Casey Legumina opened for the Rays and earned five outs before being relieved by Ian Seymour, who pitched 6 2/3 innings and recorded seven strikeouts. After Seymour took the no-hitter through the eighth inning, Craig Kimbrel came in and after getting the first out surrendered a two-run home run to Carter Jensen.
