Fern谩ndez Garc铆a-Poggio Advances to Quarters of The Women鈥檚 Amateur Championship
GULLANE, Scotland 鈥� Texas A&M’s Cayetana Fern谩ndez Garc铆a-Poggio claimed two match play victories Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of The Women’s Amateur Championship at Muirfield. Fern谩ndez Garc铆a-Poggio defeated Ohio State’s Nellie Ong 1UP in the third round to earn her spot in the quarters. The Madrid, Spain, native was also victorious over fellow Aggie teammate Vanessa Borovilos in the second round, 5&4, and beat the No. 10 amateur in the world and 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur Champion Rianne Malixi of Duke, 3&2, in the opening round.
