T-Birds women take solid lead, men sit seventh after first round of Canadian Championship
LEVIS, Que. 鈥� The UBC Thunderbirds women (+1) have jumped out to a nine-stroke lead after the opening round of the Golf Canada Canadian University/College Championship, while the UBC men (+3) sit in seventh, eight strokes off of the lead. The women teed off first at Club de Golf La Temp锚te to kick off the four-day tournament near the bank of the Chaudi猫re River, and despite starting at 4:40 a.m. Vancouver time, the eight-time defending champion T-Birds quickly showed why they are the team to beat.
