AMS eSports student earns top honors at competition
Published 3:46 pm Wednesday, June 10, 2026 Athens Middle School鈥檚 Austin Turner has earned a first-place finish in the PlayVS South Central Region Chess Solos League. Austin, a member of the AMS eSports Team and AMS Chess Team, competed against more than 100 players from 13 states and finished with a 9-1 season record. His championship marks the first league title in program history and builds on an impressive fall season in which he placed second in league competition, demonstrating continued growth and dedication to the game.
