It is with profound sadness that the Lethbridge Hurricanes announce the passing of former Governor, President and member of the Board of Directors, Herman Elfring, at the age of 76. Elfring spent over 23 seasons with the Hurricanes before retiring from his role following the 2016-2017 season. During his over two decades with the hockey club, Elfring served in many roles including four years as President of the Board of Directors from 1995 to 1999, a stretch of time which saw the Hurricanes capture their lone WHL Championship in 1997.
