Cougars finalize recruiting class with addition of forwards Calhoon, Platt, Zawatsky
University of Regina men’s hockey head coach Trevor Keeper announced Friday that forwards Brett Calhoon (Langley Rivermen), Rhett Platt (Portage Terriers), and Jye Zawatsky (Yorkton Terriers) have committed to the Cougars, rounding out the program’s recruiting class for the 2026-27 season. With the additions, the Cougars are expected to have 13 first-year players on next season’s roster. Calhoon, a native of Kamloops, B.C., spent parts of three seasons in the Western Hockey League with Medicine Hat, Kelowna, and Red Deer before finishing his junior career in the BCHL.
