Linfield goes down swinging, falls 7-6 in 8 innings at NCAA Championship Finals
SALEM, Va. 鈥� Linfield senior Cydney Hess hit two home runs, including a two-strike, two-out blast to center field in the seventh inning that pulled the Wildcats from three-run deficit into a 6-6 tie with Simpson (Iowa) on the third day of action at the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Finals. Hess’s six RBIs equaled her career-high, but it wasn’t enough to push the Wildcats to past the Storm, which prevailed 7-6 in eight innings in Saturday’s first elimination game at the James I.
