Grinnell tunes up for big series against Illinois College with victory over Cornell
MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The showdown is set! Grinnell College’s baseball team tuned up for its biggest series in years Tuesday, blowing past Cornell College 14-3 in eight innings in Midwest Conference play. The victory pushed the 20-15 Pioneers into a first-place tie atop the league standings with Illinois College. Both sit at 14-4 in the MWC entering their three-game series Friday and Saturday at Pioneer Park. Whichever team wins at least two games will be the league champion and host the MWC Tournament.
