Rowing Claims Florence Jope Smith Cup; Places Second Overall at NEWMAC Championship
WORCESTER –The Smith College rowing team placed second at the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rowing Championship Saturday morning on Lake Quinsigamond. Wellesley College won the varsity eight race and placed second in the second varsity eight to secure the conference’s automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division III Rowing Championship. Smith, which won the other three races on the day, captured the Florence Jope Smith Cup, awarded annually to the program with the highest point total from the overall championship results, with 38 points.
