Weaver breaks 11-year old school steeplechase record
AZUSA, Calif.鈥� Colorado Mesa University sophomore Shirley Weaver broke an 11-year old school record running to an NCAA Division II Championship provisional qualifying time of 10 minutes, 52.42 seconds in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday evening during the Bryan Clay Invitational here at Azusa Pacific University's Cougar Stadium. Taking advantage of a sea-level racing opportunity, Weaver posted a time was more than 33 seconds better than her former career-best of 11:25.64 from two weeks ago and surpassed the former Maverick record of 10:56.19, set by Melissa Bauer at the 2015 edition of the meet.
