The MVPs of recovery: Centerville athletic trainer Brandon Craig
CENTERVILLE, Ohio — Behind every powerhouse team resides an often invisible group of athletic trainers (ATs). These dedicated men and women employ cutting-edge knowledge and techniques, to keep athletes at the top of their game.
This month South CW Neighbors continues with Part 2 of a three-part series showcasing the talents of the Centerville High School athletic trainers. At bat: Brandon Craig.
Degrees/certifications: MBA, ATC
Years in position: 8
Sports concentrations: Football, middle school football, boys鈥 basketball, girls鈥 basketball, boys鈥 lacrosse and girls鈥 lacrosse
Education/Training
- Master鈥檚 degree
- National board certification
- Ohio state license (which involves passing a test)
- CPR certification (with many ATs choosing to become CPR instructors)
Duties
- Injury recovery and rehabilitation
- Documentation/administrative duties (making sure all athletes have paperwork turned in, keeping coaches up to date on athletes鈥 recovery statuses, etc.)
- Some preventive care
- Lunch/school day treatments
- Maintaining presence at all games/events, as well as most practices

鈥淚t鈥檚 always memorable to work with likeminded coaches, athletes, coworkers, parents and administration, to help our athletes do the best they possibly can on and off the court/field鈥攔eturning a healthy athlete to play or helping set up for a mass event, to ensure the safety of our student athletes.鈥
