By: Alan Babbitt Abby (Phillips) Van Peursem ’11, prepared by four memorable years as a Hope College student-athlete, has been witnessing for Christ in an unexpected way since she graduated. The former two-sport student-athlete and chemical engineering major has served God’s kingdom in missions in Africa for 14 years, including the past six as Chief Executive Officer for the non-profit Poetice International. Her faithful work, along with husband John, Poetice’s Chief Operating Officer, and their three children, makes VanPeursema the 2026 recipient of the H-Club’s Hope for Humanity award.
