Track & Field Earns Two Event Wins During Day 1 of Cactus Cup
KINGSVILLE, Texas 鈥� The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros outdoor track & field program opened the Cactus Cup at Texas A&M-Kingsville Friday with a pair of event wins at Javelina Stadium. Freshman Matic Vidmar won the men’s javelin with a collegiate-best mark of 59.17 meters on his second attempt. His throw was good for No. 3 all-time in program history. Junior McAllen Rowe alum Kevin Cardenas picked up his first collegiate victory after clocking 16:37.93 in the men’s 5,000-meter run to win by over 30 seconds.
