As WHL seasons wrap up, NHL prospects and WHL free agents can be invited to compete with professional hockey clubs in the American Hockey League via assignment from their NHL teams or by signing Amateur Tryout Agreements (ATOs). The WHL will keep track of these opportunities until the conclusion of the AHL season.
