Creekview gymnastics builds strength, confidence, and momentum

CANTON, Ga. — Under the leadership of head coach Kresta Bosley and lay coach Silver-Leigh Eaglestar (known as Coach Silver), the Creekview High School gymnastics team is building something special with each routine, each meet, and each personal victory.

Now in her second year at the helm coinciding with the team鈥檚 inception, Coach Bosley brings a unique perspective to the program with her background as an athletic trainer. She transitioned into teaching as a second career and was recruited into coaching as her daughter entered high school and joined the team.

Alongside her is Lay Coach Silver, who has also led the Creekview team for its鈥 two years in existence and has more than a decade of club coaching expertise. A former gymnast herself, Silver has been coaching since 2013, bringing with her expertise garnered from her own experience as an athlete.

Together, the coaching duo has cultivated a program rooted in discipline, encouragement, and growth. 鈥淲e focus on staying on task and finishing assignments while really working to perfect each routine,鈥 they explain. That attention to detail has already paid off. One of the team鈥檚 most memorable milestones came when they broke the 100.0 mark as a team鈥攔eflecting both skill and consistency across events.

But for their coaches, the team鈥檚 success goes far beyond the scoreboard. Their proudest moments are when the girls finish a routine and feel happy with their performance. Whether coming off a strong meet or a disappointing one, the focus remains on individual progress. Coaches encourage athletes to set and pursue personal goals, reinforcing that improvement looks different for everyone.

This season, the team aims to consistently score above 100.0. With a larger roster than last year, there鈥檚 also a strong ambition to place in the top five at every competition they attend. They have already accomplished one goal for this season鈥攖aking 1st place in their fourth meet of the season with a score of 103.55.

Leadership plays a key role in that effort. The program鈥檚 seniors serve as team captains, modeling commitment, sportsmanship, and work ethic for younger gymnasts. Their influence helps set the tone not just for this season, but for the future of the program. Team building is another cornerstone of Creekview鈥檚 success. New members are welcomed through team bonding events that allow athletes to connect outside of practice and build trust with one another and their coaches. That sense of unity carries into competition, where the team supports each other from the sidelines and celebrates every routine.

At the conclusion of each meet, the gymnasts gather together for a spirited team cheer, regardless of the final scores. And celebrations often continue afterward with a well earned ice cream outing, where athletes enjoy time together and chat about their accomplishments.

The experience of coaching has reinforced one key lesson for Coach Bosley and Coach Silver: the importance of being present for their athletes, both mentally and physically. It鈥檚 a commitment that shapes every interaction.

Looking ahead, their vision for the program is clear: 鈥淲e want to make sure the team is having fun and continuing to improve, while also working toward being ranked in the top 20 in the state.鈥 This year also holds exciting potential with the possibility of multiple gymnasts qualifying for the state competition.

With a strong foundation, dedicated leadership, and a growing roster of motivated athletes, the Creekview gymnastics team is well on its way鈥攑roving that success isn鈥檛 just measured in scores, but in confidence, camaraderie, and the joy of the sport.
