Ava Boyer Named MVC Freshman of the Week
ST. LOUIS -- Illinois State softball's Ava Boyer was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. It is Boyer's first-career MVC weekly honor and the fourth for a Redbird this season. Boyer, a freshman from Tuscola, Ill., started all three games at second base last week for the Redbirds. She led Illinois State with a .625 batting average (5-for-8) with three doubles, one RBI, two stolen bases and four runs scored.
