SMSU closes season with fourth-place finish at national tournament
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The No. 6 seed Southwest Minnesota State wheelchair basketball team closed its season on Saturday morning suffering a 61-50 loss to No. 5 seed the University of Illinois in the third-place game of the National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament inside the McKale Center. SMSU, which defeated Eastern Washington and Arizona in the first two games of the tournament before suffering a loss to Auburn in Friday's semifinals, ends the season with a record of 13-11 overall.
